The university locates in Setagaya Ward of Tokyo where is one of historical areas at the center of Tokyo within about 20-minutes from Shinjuku and Shibuya by train or tram. It was originally founded as a private academy in 1917 in Azabu, moved to Setagaya afterward and made a start as a full-fledged educational institute. Today, it has 7 undergraduate and 10 graduate schools with 3 research centers and is nurturing over 13000 students including about 500 international students. It will be celebrating its centennial anniversary in the year 2017. School of Science and Engineering originally opened as Faculty of Engineering with Departments of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering in 1963.
FROM SHINJUKU BY TRAIN: Take a local stopping train for Hon-atsugi on the Odakyu Line. 9-minitue walk from Umegaoka Station. FROM SHIBUYA BY TRAIN AND TRAM: Take a subway for Chuorinkan on the Hanzomon Line and transfer at Sangenjaya Station to Tokyu Setagaya Line (tram). 6-minitues walk from Shoin-jinjya-mae Station. FROM SHIBUYA BY BUS: Take a bus bound for Setagaya-kumin-kaikan (Setagaya Civic Hall) departing from Shibuya Station South Exit. Get off the bus at the end of the line. 1-minitue walk form the bus stop.

an entry visa to Japan.
If your country is not included in the list, you need to obtain a short-term stay visa (ˇ°tanki-shouyou visaˇ± in Japanese) from the embassy of Japan in your country.
Read carefully the Japanese visa guide provided by the ministry of foreign affairs. For entry into Japan, a VISA may be required for attendees from some countries. Please note ICFMS Conference and the organizing committee of the conference are not authorized to assist with the VISA process beyond providing the Notification of Invitation Letter issued by ICFMS Conference and conference Committee Board. Should your application be denied, ICFMS Conference and the organizing committee of the conference cannot change the decision of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, nor will ICFMS Conference and the organizing committee of the conference engage in discussion or correspondence with the MOFA or the Embassy on behalf of the applicant. The registration fee cannot be refunded when the VISA application of individual being denied.
It takes time for the Embassy to process the VISA application, please register as early as you can to make sure you have enough time.
